BF6 Players Concur: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult
The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, notably for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, a growing number of players are protesting against a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are required to access certain guns.
Users have commenced using custom matches made via the Portal feature to finish these tasks, highlighting just how demanding these assignments have become.
Understanding BF6 Objectives
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the regularly refreshed day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four classes of assignments, but where most simply offer cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of obtaining twelve from the forty-one primary weapons present in the game.
Several of these restricted firearms could shortly make their appearance on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash across Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive several of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it used to in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
At the same time, firing an LMG without aiming is highly imprecise and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you prefer to be. The same user also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge
Another Reddit user brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, within the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons
This is challenging enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, another expansive area, and perhaps Operation Firestorm in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.
The Bypass
There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.
But when completing the missions in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that offers no advantage to anyone, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a custom game so allies are not impaired?
Potential Changes
It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are made easier in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, some players simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.
For now, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these demanding in-game tasks, hoping for a fairer gaming experience in subsequent patches.
