Caelan Doris Makes Irish Selection While McCarthy Omitted
Returning head coach the Ireland coach has included captain Caelan Doris in his Irish roster for the autumn matches, however Joe McCarthy misses out.
Doris, who has not played since having a shoulder operation in the start of May, recently returned to Leinster training, though his fitness is uncertain whether he will be ready to play against New Zealand in the US on 1 November.
Second row Joe McCarthy, however, was not considered after not recovering from the foot injury he sustained during the first British and Irish Lions match against Australia in the summer.
Ulster player Izuchukwu and southern province wing Nash are not included because of fitness concerns, and number 15 Keenan had already been ruled out after undergoing a hip operation after the summer tour.
Leinster prop McCarthy - Joe's younger brother - is the sole new player in the 34-player squad, but the Irish Rugby Football Union says uncapped provincial duo Edwin Edogbo and Brian Gleeson and previously capped Connacht winger Shayne Bolton will travel to Chicago as "cover".
Following facing the All Blacks at the Chicago stadium in a rematch of their previous encounter, the team will play the Brave Blossoms, Australia and world title holders the Springboks in the Irish capital.
"It's an exciting group to the squad and it's a chance for the veteran members and for the newcomers on the summer tour to the Lelos and the Lobos," said Farrell, who returns to national team duties after taking a sabbatical to lead the British and Irish Lions to Australia.
In a mostly familiar-looking squad, the Dublin club's Prendergast and the southern club's Crowley will once again compete for the starting fly-half position. The number 10 jersey is remains up for grabs, with the two players set to face off for the first occasion in Saturday's United Rugby Championship game at the Dublin venue.
Frawley is the additional number 10 selected with Farrell deciding not to selecting the province's Byrne.
At number 9, Farrell has picked Lions tourist Jamison Gibson-Park and Craig Casey, who led the national side to the summer international wins over the Lelos and the Lobos. Additionally, there is a recall for the western province's Caolin Blade, who is preferred to teammate Murphy.
Henshaw, Aki, Ringrose and Stuart McCloskey form an experienced cohort of midfield options. Jamie Osborne is a further choice in the centres, but the 23-year-old is also a frontrunner to cover for Keenan at full-back.
Wingers Lowe, Hansen, O'Brien and Stockdale are named. O'Brien shone on his national team debut during the summer with a brace each in the wins over Georgia and the Lobos.
Paddy McCarthy is the sole fresh name in the Ireland forwards. The loose-head prop has been in two of his province's URC league matches this season and featured in the second string's defeat by the English in Bristol earlier this year.
McCarthy was selected in caretaker coach Paul O'Connell's summer selection, yet did not receive a international appearance.
Munster lock Thomas Ahern, who earned his debut appearances in those Tests, is retained, while experienced Northern province second row Iain Henderson is back after missing the summer tour.
Conan, who played in each of the Lions matches during the tour, is set to cover for the captain if the skipper fails to recover fitness in time to face the All Blacks.
The national team will meet in the capital on Monday before flying to Chicago on Tuesday.
