Australian police have called off the operation for a four-year-old child who has been lost in the outback for almost several weeks, after renewed attempts proved unsuccessful to find any evidence of the boy.

Sequence of Occurrences

Gus Lamont was last seen engaging outside his residence on a secluded sheep station in the vicinity of Yunta, about a significant distance from Adelaide, on 27 September.

His grandparent briefly departed for about a short period before checking on him, only to find the youngster gone, prompting one of the largest comprehensive operations in the region's past.

Latest Status

Law enforcement - who do not think there was foul play - say they will carry on investigating, but that the case has become a "recovery mission".

Last week, authorities for a short time wound down the operation, only to recommence it on this week alongside eighty military staff.

"Commissioner the commissioner said officials were scanning a more extensive region based on revised evaluations from survivability and operation experts, rather than any new information."

Operation Difficulties

On recently, authorities announced that the new operation had not found any traces of Gus.
