NFL Recap: Denver Edge Hapless Jets in Low-Scoring Battle

During a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Denver Broncos clinched a close victory over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz provided the late go-ahead field goal to seal the ugly win.

Despite recording nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 after conceding a safety in the third quarter. Interestingly, the Jets could only produce just 82 total net yards during the contest.

Nix, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that culminated in Lutz's short field goal with just over five minutes remaining.

Historic Difficulties for Jets Attack

Despite their dismal performance, the Jets maintained the ball with a chance to score a possible victory. However Fields was sacked on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion instead of calling on specialist Nick Folk for a long field-goal attempt.

Fields had difficulties throughout, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with minus-10 passing yards, the lowest in any contest since 1998.

"The aerial attack was completely absent," the coach commented following the contest.
